This Veterans Day, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the men and women who put themselves last and their country first.
I was born in the Philippines, and the reason I live in this wonderful country is because my stepfather, who served in the U.S. Navy, was stationed there and met my mom. His service brought our family to America, and that gift has shaped every part of my life.
My gratitude runs deep because my stepfather is a veteran, my father is a veteran, and my husband is a veteran. I know firsthand the sacrifices they have made — the years spent away from home, the milestones missed, and the courage it takes to serve.
Here in the Dayton, Ohio area, I have the honor of working with many veterans and active-duty military families relocating to and from Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).
